Yes, this week was the stickiest, gooiest, messiest week we have had at camp so far. Campers learned how much fun it is to get messy!! There was much more hand-washing throughout the week than usual, as we explored several sensory materials, including:
gak (glue + water + borax)
wet sand
slime
bouncing putty,
and oobleck (corn starch + water.. this was used in conjunction with the Dr. Seuss book, Bartholomew and the Oobleck, which we read twice, due to popular demand).
We even made smores on Friday, perhaps the messiest of all desserts. We also experimented with finger paints, and toilet paper collages.
We unfortunately were unable to swim at Take Me To The Water on Wednesday, as I received a phone call from the pool at nearly 9:00, with the news that the pool was unusable. We will have a make-up class ASAP, and I was told that families whose last camp day was Friday will receive a refund. Also, due to the hot and humid weather on Friday, we did not spend much time in Central Park as we usually would. Instead we played briefly at the community playground on 89th st, had 'freeplay' in the gym, where we used the climbing wall, trampoline, and gym mats for extra fun, and a special pizza surprise during lunch.
Enjoy these pictures from our messy, ooey gooey week! Next week, we will have a Let's Go Camping theme.
